Who I work with

LGBTQ+ adults therapy with room to be yourself

I work with LGBTQ+ adults who are tired of translating themselves for everyone else. In our work, we can talk honestly about identity, stress, family strain, relationships, and what it takes to feel more settled in your own life.

What people bring me

People often come in carrying the wear of being watched, corrected, or misunderstood. Some are sorting through gender or sexuality questions, while others are dealing with the pressure of family, work, or faith that doesn’t fit who they are. It can also show up as anxiety, low mood, or a constant sense of bracing for the next comment. I listen for what’s happening on the surface and what’s been asked of you for a long time.

  • I’m tired of explaining myself all the time.
  • I don’t feel like I can be fully me anywhere.
  • I keep second-guessing how I present myself.
  • I want support that gets queer life.

How I work with it

I use ACT, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive care to stay close to your lived experience. That means we pay attention to the messages you’ve carried, the places where you’re stuck in self-criticism or fear, and the parts of life where you want more room to be yourself. The work is practical and reflective, and we keep coming back to what is actually happening in your relationships, your body, and your choices.

ACT
ACT helps us look at the thoughts and fears that keep running the show. For LGBTQ+ adults, that often means noticing where shame or fear of rejection has started to shape daily life.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma-informed care keeps the work steady and aware of what has felt unsafe or overwhelming before. We move with care around painful experiences like rejection, harassment, or being forced to hide parts of yourself.
Culturally Responsive Care
Culturally responsive care means I pay attention to race, culture, family, faith, and the pressures that shape how you’ve had to move through the world. Your identity is part of the work, not something we work around.

What the first sessions look like

Our first sessions are about learning what feels most urgent and what you want to be different in your day-to-day life. I’ll ask about the parts of your story that matter to you, and some of it may still feel unclear when we start.

You’ll never have to justify your lived experience to be seen here.

Questions people ask

Do you do LGBTQ+ therapy for identity stuff too?

Yes. We can talk about gender, sexuality, relationships, family pressure, and the parts of identity that feel unsettled or under strain.

What if I’ve never talked about this out loud before?

That’s common, and we can start there. You don’t need polished language, only enough willingness to say what’s been weighing on you.

Can therapy help with feeling judged all the time?

We can work with the impact of that kind of pressure and how it shows up in daily life. In session, we pay attention to what you’ve learned to hide and what it costs you.

Is this just for queer adults in crisis?

No. Some people come in during a hard stretch, and others want steadier support around identity, stress, or relationships. The work can start with whatever is most present for you right now.
